Due to Hurricane Idalia, Alachua County Emergency Management declared The Senior Recreation Center a Special Needs Shelter effective TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2023. The Senior Recreation Center will ONLY be open to evacuees until further notice. All In-person senior programs and activities at the Senior Recreation Center location will be temporarily suspended until further notice. If you have questions about virtual programs, please get in touch with the ElderCare office at 352-265-9040.

Additionally, the Senior Center congregate meal site will be offered in a modified drive-thru approach on Tuesday, August 29 (TOMORROW). There will be no home-delivered meals on Wednesday (8/30) of this week. Congregate meal sites in Gainesville, Archer, Waldo, High Springs, and Newberry will also temporarily close on Wednesday (8/30). At this time, we plan to resume services this Thursday, August 31, 2023. We will continue to monitor the situation and report any additional updates or changes should the need arise.
