Affordable Rides for Gainesville Seniors

About:

ElderCare of Alachua County, in partnership with the City of Gainesville and in collaboration with Uber, is proud to offer the Freedom in Motion Program. This initiative provides seniors aged 60 and older with affordable, low-cost, on-demand rides to help you get where you need to go within the city of Gainesville.

To be eligible for the Freedom in Motion Program, you must be:

  • 60 years of age or older
  • Reside within the Gainesville city limits tax jurisdiction
  • Own a smartphone to download the Uber application onto your device

Whether it’s a trip to a medical appointment, grocery shopping, or visiting friends, Freedom in Motion makes it easier and more convenient for seniors to stay mobile and independent. Enjoy the freedom to travel on your own schedule with reliable and accessible transportation options.

What is Freedom In Motion?
This program offers seniors safe and affordable transportation through the Uber app, available daily from 6am to 11pm.

How do I know if I’m eligible?
To become eligible for Freedom In Motion, you must:
• Be 60 years of age or older.
• Have a smartphone.
• Reside in the Gainesville City Limits.

What do I need to bring to sign up?
To sign up, you must be able to provide a Photo ID, Proof of Income, and Proof of Address.
